MASK | performing behind the leather...
A little about the origins...
Masks have been around for countless years, from the Ancient Greeks, to the mystery play era of the Middle Ages through to the 21st Century where the variety is more diverse than ever.
A little about the technique…
Anyone can put on a mask and become facially transformed, but using mask as an acting technique is an intricate skill to master. Forte Theatre has two Mask workshops on offer to tackle this complex art form; An introductory workshop for beginners and a Development workshop for those wishing to further their skills and knowledge.
Theatrical Masks, either neutral or character, bring an array of challenges from vocal use, physical expression, rules and restrictions, audience interaction and achieving an unconditional belief in the character and story.
How it can help your students…
Forte Theatre is offering two invigorating character based workshops to unravel the secrets behind the challenges of Mask work and to help students discover the versatility of mask to become skilled and conversant in this complex tool.
